World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (“WEAAD”) is an annual initiative launched on June 15, 2006, by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization at the United Nations.
Individuals, communities, municipalities, and organizations come together each year to raise awareness of elder abuse. In 2018, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office hosted its inaugural WEAAD Conference. This year, several events in the month of June will commemorate WEAAD, with hopes to foster multi-generational awareness. Let’s all do our part to end elder abuse!
