SENSITIVE PLACES LAW
On December 22, 2022, Governor Phil Murphy signed new gun safety
legislation strengthening restrictions for who is eligible for a public carry
permit, and establishing a list of places where people with carry permits
cannot bring their firearms.
Despite recent legal challenges, this law remains in effect.
Here are some things you need to know about it.
PLACES WHERE CONCEALED CARRY IS NOT PERMITTED
Locations of public congregations
like entertainment venues,
recreational facilities,
parks, beaches, zoos, places that serve alcohol, airports and public transit hubs, public gatherings
Locations with vulnerable populations
like schools, child-care facilities, healthcare facilities, long-term care facilities, correctional facilities, homeless shelters
Locations with governmental activity
like polling places, courthouses, law enforcement offices, government buildings
