The Office EEO embodies the Department’s commitment to the principle that all of its employees and applicants for employment deserve to be treated fairly and given an equal opportunity to succeed in the workplace. In furtherance of this mission, the Office of EEO takes appropriate action with regard to allegations that implicate the New Jersey State Policy Prohibiting Discrimination in the Workplace, N.J.A.C. 4A:7-3.1 (“EEO Policy”).
The EEO Policy prohibits all forms of employment discrimination or harassment based on race, creed, color, national origin, nationality, ancestry, age, sex/gender, pregnancy, marital status, civil union status, domestic partnership status, familial status, religion, affectional or sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, genetic information, liability for service in the Armed Forces of the United States, or disability.
All complaints and investigations are handled, to the extent possible, in a confidential manner in order to protect the privacy interests of those involved. The EEO Policy also prohibits retaliation for participating in an investigation, or opposing a discriminatory practice.
The EEO Policy is a zero tolerance policy; the Department will take appropriate corrective measures, including discipline if necessary, to address conduct that violates the EEO Policy regardless of whether the conduct satisfies the legal definition of discrimination or harassment.
